Hidden Lake Campground and Resort in Hot Springs, South Dakota is the only intimate outdoor resort with a private lake in the Southern Black Hills where people can relax, disconnect, enjoy life, and make unforgettable memories with their friends and family in a natural setting.
The lake was created in 1890 for the sole purpose of providing ice to the community of Hot Springs and surrounding areas. Around the 1900’s the lake was sold and turned into a campground. They held water carnivals here, which consisted of swimming and diving contests. They also held part of the Miss South Dakota/Miss America Pageant here. There are pictures hanging in the cabins and store that show these historic events. Through the years many locals remember having their swimming lessons here and some of them even tell the story of paying .25 cents to swim all day. It was a campground through the early 2000’s. The campground side of things faded off and the cabins were used for year-round rentals. We purchased the property in December 2018 and have been diligently resurrecting and adding to this unique land.
This beautiful piece of land provides solitude and peace just minutes from the town of Hot Springs. The lake draws many different kinds of land loving animals, birds, and of course water loving animals too. We do not provide any TV or internet services in the cabins or campgrounds. We are here so you can relax, disconnect and make unforgettable memories in a natural setting. We do have WiFi available when you need to reconnect at the store and common area.
